ABOUT THE ARTIST
Alexander Mosio was born in northern Moravia in 1956.
His artistic education began before school age under the guidance of the painter Eliška Servátková (Rosenfeld), a graduate of the University of Applied Arts in Vienna, where she studied graphic art with Professor Peter Kiernig. He studied with her until the age of eighteen.
After completing his studies with Eliška Servátková, he continued his artistic education privately in the studios of painters Karel Konderla and Edwin Rožnovský, both graduates of the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków.
During the period of political repression in Czechoslovakia, formal art education was closed to him because of his parents’ political views. Instead, he pursued independent study throughout his life and still considers himself a lifelong student.
Alexander Mosio’s work passed through a period influenced by Neo-Impressionism. Gradually, he developed an expressive interpretation of real-world subjects, increasingly seeking atmosphere, mood and emotional meaning. He subsequently transformed these elements into abstract forms, culminating in the purely emotional abstraction of his recent work.

A PERSONAL NOTE
Painting has accompanied me since childhood. I have never seen it as a destination, but as a journey. Each painting is a new exploration of the relationship between the world we see and what takes place within us. Although my means of expression have changed over the years, the desire to discover and learn remains the same.
